GRAPE VARIETY: 100% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo
SENSORY PROFILE: The wine appears a garnet-rimmed ruby red, then offers varietally-faithful aromas of morello cherry and wild red berry fruit. Firmly-structured and lightly tannic, it also displays a velvet-smooth mouthfeel.
FOOD PAIRING: It is delicious with red meats and game.
VINIFICATION: Gentle pressing of the grapes, then a lengthy, submerged-cap maceration and cool-temperature fermentation. The wine matured 6-8 months in 40hl oak botti, then a further period in the bottle.
SOIL PROFILE: Medium-textured.
TRAINING SYSTEM: Vertical trellised, Guyot.
VINEYARD YIELD: 120 q/ha.
HARVEST PERIOD: Mid to late October.
COMMENTS: Released three years after the harvest.
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 18°C (64 F).
